Hi, I’m Anna-Marie.
I’m a Yoga Therapist, contemplative teacher, and thought leader in the mind-body connection.
I know what it’s like to have a full life and balance the sacred work of caring for others.
I know what it’s like to push through pain and injury to eventually discover that “less is more”. I learned that slow, gentle practices expand your ability to anchor daily living in calm and ease.
I also know what it’s like to seek a quiet, reflective life in a loud, busy world.
Through years of inquiry, I discovered that gentle movement, stillness, and reflection are lifelines, not luxuries. Lasting change requires a container of practice. Practice that is not about performance or the shape of your body. Rather, a practice that highlights your relationship with your breath. A practice that allows you to move slowly, think deeply, live quietly, and be rooted. This is what Contemplative Practice Yoga® provides.
Even in today’s busy world, it is possible to return to a slower pace, a steadier rhythm. It is possible to cultivate deeper awareness of mind, body, and breath.
My greatest honor is to expand students’ ability to pause, soften, reconnect with their truest self so that they can live from a place of ease, and joy. My group yoga classes; private Yoga Therapy sessions, and seasonal workshops bring physical comfort to your body and build your awareness of the magnificence of your soul.
This is what I live. This is what I teach.
Contemplative Sac is built to educate and support you. When you work with me, you experience the benefits of CPY and learn the why behind what you are doing.
Why my studio is different?
In our busy world, Contemplative Sac offers practices that give you pause. In a world off center, contemplative practice brings you into alignment, infusing your body with comfort, ease and calm. In a world where instant gratification is the norm, through contemplation you discover that everything truly sustainable and deeply satisfying happens slowly and sweetly.
Contemplative Sac is a space exclusively for calm and stillness. A studio that teaches you to listen and be attentive to what speaks in the deepest ground of your Being. Come join us! Discover what you didn’t know you were missing.
Personal background and study
I find happiness in quiet and ordinary things. I see great value in a slow and steady way of being.
Despite the fast-paced nature of our lives, it is possible to cultivate and maintain a deep sense of interior awareness and stillness. I started Contemplative Sac to share the gifts of yoga and contemplation with others. Contemplative practices and Contemplative Practice Yoga® deepen your awareness and appreciation of Divine Presence in your life and in the world. Sharing these practices with others is a great honor and privilege.
My studio is an outpouring of love of and devotion to practices that infuse my life with joy. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my family. My heart treasures all things Welsh, especially St. Melangell of Wales.
I have my B.A from UC Berkeley and my J.D from UC Davis King Hall School of Law. I am a 200-RYT registered with Yoga Alliance and have additional separate and advanced certifications in Contemplative Practice Yoga® and Contemplative Practice Yoga® Therapy. I am also a Veriditas trained Labyrinth Facilitator and a devoted student of early medieval history in the British Isles.
